Brent is a a graduate from the University of Saskatchewan with a Juris Doctorate LLB and BA (Hons). He is a member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta and Queen’s Counsel. Previously a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta and Canadian Member of Parliament, Brent was named one of MacLean’s Parliamentarians of The Year. He is also the author of Irresponsible Government: The Decline of Parliamentary Democracy in Canada.
In 2017, Brent was appointed to the Edmonton Assessment Review Board, where he adjudicates disputes between property owners and the City of Edmonton regarding the assessed value of land and improvements to land. Brent was reappointed in 2018.
